Women in Tech with Elle

Women in Tech with Elle

This year marks the fifth time Elle magazine hosts the Elle Women in Tech event in San Francisco. It is a time to celebrate the women who are changing the world’s most powerful industry. Bringing women together to network and empower others. The beautiful Tiffany & Co. store in Union Square is the setting for the first event where we are welcomed with champagne and small “bytes”. Hearing the founder of Eventbrite, Julia Hartz, speak of women entrepreneurship only empowers me to continue my journey and celebrate success no matter how small the victory. The very inspirational Tiara Kara of Built By Girls speaks about how to “prepare the next generation of female leaders, builders, and creators to step boldly into careers powered by technology”. A very impressive and worthwhile community to help young women grow exponentially in technology based companies.

Another highlight of the night is seeing Nina Garcia Editor in Chief  of Elle Magazine, outside of our usual fashion setting. It is wonderful to see Nina and Elle support women not only in fashion but also in tech. So motivational and commendable.

The next day, I attend a luncheon sponsored by Elle, and supported by Farfetch at the new gorgeous waterfront restaurant, Angler.

Nina Garcia welcomes us and speaks to the intimate group about women support, specifically but not limited to tech, from herself and Elle.

We also hear from Stephanie Phair, Chief Strategy Officer of Farfetch on the importance of women in tech and how Farfetch is working to change the staggering ratio of women led tech companies.
