Paris Fashion Week | Giambattista Valli
As we are led down a metal staircase to the basement of the Palais de Tokyo to view the Giambattista Valli’s Fall 2018 Ready-to-Wear collection at Paris Fashion Week we realize that this will be a Valli show like no other. Gone is the Parisian ornate decor of his previous venues. Instead we are in a stark yet beautiful basement filled with metal bench seating, light bulb walls, concrete floors and white fur rugs. The decor sets the scene for the equally unexpected runway show.
This season Valli transforms his collection from his core ruffled romanticism to present more of a collection with a global view of a women on the move. The show opens with a nod to the 70’s with denim dungarees, paired with Mongolian flip-flips and a brown printed scarf. With this start, we know we are in for a fun yet worldly collection!
My favorite looks are more tailored, almost British menswear inspired. I love a good tailored suit! Valli pairs his grey tweed suiting with a patent red leather jacket to bring in his romantic view. One of my favorite look of the show is the 70’s cut black suede jacket with gold water snake detail and a back full of fringe. Only Valli can mix such different materials to provide us with super unique pieces. My other favorite is the high low gown that refers to his stunning couture collection shown in January.

For the show I wear something I pick up from the Giambattista Valli store in Paris the Saturday before the show. I pair a black lace jacket with puffy sleeves from the Fall/Winter 2017 collection with a black and white sequin polka dot skirt from the current Spring/Summer 2018 collection. I also wear my Chanel space bag, new Isabel Marant silver boots and opaque black tights for an edgy addition to the Valli romantic vibe. Finally, I add my Chanel headband and Moschino cat eyed sunglasses for some over the top accessories to get that classic Valli Parisian girly look.
Stay tuned for more from Paris Fashion Week!
