Happy 70th Anniversary, Dior!
After the Dior Haute Couture show—check out my post about it here—we were taken back to our hotel where we had a lovely lunch outside. (No day in Paris would be complete without a delicious répas!)
Then we ran upstairs to change and off we went to Dior’s 70th anniversary party, which also happened to be the opening day of the Dior exhibit at the Louvre. (Check out photos of the exhibit in Vogue here.)
Dior, Je t’Aime
We arrived at the Louvre and mingled with other guests outside on the patio while sipping champagne and nibbling on appetizers. The decorations were stunning—my favorites were the most amazing floral recreation of a Dior champagne bottle and a Dior dress made out of dried flowers.
Walking through the exhibit made me think about how Dior has stayed so iconic for the last 70 years. I think one of the reasons is that all the Dior designers have always focused on a woman’s shape. There’s also a meaningful story behind every piece—my favorite part of the exhibit was standing amidst dozens of dress forms decked out in the muslin version (the first step of any design, kind of like a 3D sketch) of past designs.
After an inspiring early evening, we were driven to Le Meurice for a rooftop dinner with other Dior guests to dine in style—how else would Dior do it?
What I Wore
I wore a black lace Dior dress from PreFall 2017 . I thought it was elegant yet fun for the party. And with the kinds of celebs we brushed elbows with—I walked by Natalie Portman, Bella Hadid and Dior’s Artistic Director, Maria Grazia Chiuri, while going through the exhibit, eek!—I knew I had to bring my fashion A-game.
Not long after my whirlwind fashion trip to Paris, I embark for Greece for a dreamy family vacation. Check back to come along!
