Burberry Spring 2017 Runway
This year, Burberry did something super different and cool. While the main 2017 Spring Collection was being shown in London, a number of stores worldwide opened up for private viewings of the collection for invited guests. Burberry created viewing parties in the San Francisco, New York and Los Angeles boutiques for some of their VIP clients. About 30 guests were invited to the viewing of the Burberry Spring 2017 collection at the SF Burberry boutique. Guests were welcome with champagne and small bites during the pre show event.
Everyone was then asked to sit down for the viewing of the show. The show was influenced by artist Henry Moore, allowing Burberry to remain enlaced in Britain’s artistic heritage, something it always does, and does very well. The pieces were texturized in a comparable way to Moore’s sculptures, which models strutted alongside of. The collection combined different aspects of art in a way I have not seen before. It was really intriguing to see Henry Moore’s sculptures brought to life in the Burberry collection. (Check out the whole collection at Vogue.com for better pictures of it all!)
Burberry is one of the fashion houses that believes in “see now, buy now” collections, which means that pieces of the show can be bought as soon as the collection is shown for the first time. One of the best parts of today was that after watching the fashion show guests were invited upstairs to shop the collection. The women’s and men’s departments were filled with the looks that we had just seen on the runway in London! Guests had the ability to try on and purchase immediately. Burberry first did this last September and has successfully done it again. Historically, you would place your order after the show and receive your pieces 4-6 months later. Thank you Burberry for a wonderful day!
