Chanel Resort 2017 Collection
The Chanel 2017 Resort collection debuted at the El Paseo Del Prado in Havana, Cuba this past Tuesday. The anticipated event made history when the first U.S. cruise ship to see Cuba in 60 years docked in Havana Harbour. In celebration of a restored friendship with Cuba, Karl Lagerfeld assembled a diverse collection that harmonizes the styles of two cultures. Combing the classic French Chanel look with Cuban-esque prints and colors, Lagerfeld was able to create a distinct, yet noticeably ‘Chanel’ collection. The pieces of the collection were inspired by the cultural richness and opening up of Cuba and the vibrant baroque facades of the town. Honoring Cuban fashion, Lagerfeld used Latin style salsa dresses covered in 50s car prints, crocheted beach sets, and panama hats atop many models to create a destination style look that everyone wants to be apart of. Many familiar faces were seen down Chanel’s runway, including Stella Tennant, Mariacarla Boscono, Lindsey Wixson, and Soo Joo Park. A handful of celebrities were also in attendance, like Gisele Bundchen, Tilda Swinton, and even Vin Diesel. Below are some of my favorite looks from the show!
I was lucky enough to attend the Chanel cocktail party at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles. The party was held in accord with the new collection. Click the link below or make your way to my events page to learn more on the event I attended.
These are some of the pieces straight from the Cuba runway show I was able to see at the Los Angeles event. As you can see, the pieces combine classic Chanel design with Cuban flare, making the collection ideal for hot summer nights on the beach. Bold prints, fun embellishment (just look at those slides), and classic tweed suits with a colorful Cuban twist!
