Perusing the Dior Haute Joaillerie Collection
Dior Jewels are a Girl’s Best Friend
Because the Dior Haute Joaillerie Collection debuted the same week as the Dior couture show, we were lucky enough to see the “Dior À Versailles, Côté Jardins” collection in person at Dior’s couture salon on Avenue Montaigne. (It’s also where Christian Dior showed his very first collection—it was very exciting to be surrounded by so much history!)
The décor was stunning. Flowers inspired by the gardens of Versailles filled the salon and three stories of banisters where covered in floral hedges. The jewelry itself was displayed in sparkling glass cases surrounded by mazes of hedges and flowers, which made a very cool contrast to the gemstones.
Flowers Fit for a Queen
Designer Victoire de Castellane’s new Haute Joaillerie (high jewelry) collection for the Maison Dior explores the Royal domain of Versailles. (Check out my visit to Versailles here!)
The way the botanical world of the gardens harmonize with the Chateau and its ornamental detailing inspired the collection. The jewels mimic the flowerbeds, groves, thickets, ornamental ponds, statues and sandy walkways of one of the most iconic gardens in the world.
The one-of-a-kind and made-to-order pieces range in price from $90,000 to $2,500,000—quite a luxury to wear!
My favorite piece is the two-finger floral ring featuring different colored jewels placed to look like petals. Mother Nature gets a chic upgrade!
What I Wore
I wore Dior, of course! I chose black pants, one of my favorite Dior T-shirts, their luxe ivory Bar Jacket—a Dior staple—and black sling backs. I thought casual elegance was the best choice to be in the presence of such beautiful jewels!
